Is a BTE hearing aid noticeable?
Modern slim-tube BTE (also called RIE or RITE) designs sit very discreetly behind the ear. Colour options match skin and hair tones. They are much less visible than older generation BTE aids.
Can children wear BTE hearing aids?
Yes - BTE is the preferred style for children because the aid sits safely behind the ear and only the earmold (which sits inside the ear) needs to be replaced as the child grows, keeping costs low.
How long does a BTE battery last?
A standard size-13 battery lasts 10–14 days with moderate use. Rechargeable BTE models offer a full day on a single overnight charge.
Can I wear a BTE aid with glasses?
Yes. Many patients wear both comfortably. Our audiologist will advise on the best fitting to ensure the hearing aid and glasses arm do not clash behind the ear.
How do I clean a BTE hearing aid?
Wipe the outer casing daily with a dry cloth. Clean the earmold weekly with a damp cloth (never immerse). Use the wax pick to clear the sound outlet. Bring it to our clinic monthly for a professional clean.
